How we make money

Paint Picker is free to use and carries no display advertising. When you buy something through a link on this site, the retailer may pay us a small commission. That's most of the model — we also take on the occasional piece of sponsored work, such as a paid buyer's guide or a brand feature, and anything paid is labelled as sponsored every time you see it.

Neither commission nor sponsorship affects the prices you see or how offers rank.

The best price wins the top slot because it is the best price we know about — full stop. Retailers can't pay for placement, and we show shops we earn nothing from alongside the ones we do. No sponsorship changes a price on this site or moves anyone up a comparison; that's stated just as plainly on the page where someone would try to buy it, our partnerships page. Buying through an affiliate link costs you nothing extra: you pay exactly what the retailer charges.

We also try to be honest about freshness. Every price we show is dated where we can date it, and when a price is too old to trust we'd rather show you a plain link than a number that might be wrong. Prices you see on a retailer's own site always take precedence over anything shown here.

When you click out to a retailer, they may set cookies to attribute the sale to us. What the retailer does with your data from there is covered by their own privacy policy — see our privacy policy for details of what we collect (very little) and our terms for the fine print.
