American War of Independence
Horse and musket, every maker, priced
Black Powder is Warlord Games' rules for big battles of the horse-and-musket era, roughly 1700 to 1900 — Napoleon, the American Civil War, the colonial wars and more — fought in 28mm with whole regiments on the table rather than a handful of models. It's written to take anyone's miniatures, so a real Napoleonic army is usually Perry, Victrix and Warlord kits side by side rather than one maker's range. Below is every kit we can price for it, filed by war so a buyer planning an army sees every maker at once.
Each page lists every kit and box we can price for that war, cheapest shop first.
Perry Miniatures make 43 of the kits and boxes on this page. Every Perry Miniatures kit, by period, compared →
Including the Epic Battles brigades — the smaller-scale plastic sets that put a whole wing of an army on the table.

Black Powder is Warlord Games' rules for mass battles of the musket era: the Marlburian wars, the American Revolution, Napoleon, the American Civil War and the colonial wars, fought in 28mm with units of ten, twenty or more models rather than a skirmish handful. It's the ancestor of the same publisher's Hail Caesar (further back, the ancient and medieval world) and Pike & Shotte (the century between the two) — three rulesets covering one long run of history with a shared big-battle feel, a different game from Warlord's own Bolt Action, which handles the Second World War at platoon scale with order dice instead.
Because the rules ask for nobody's figures in particular, this page is filed by war rather than by maker: a Perry French line infantry box, a Victrix British one and a Warlord Epic Battles brigade all sit under the Napoleonic Wars, so the buyer planning an army sees every option for it at once.
A Black Powder army usually starts from a boxed infantry regiment or two, built out with cavalry, artillery and command figures as the list needs them. Where a war has an Epic Battles range, a single starter box puts a whole smaller-scale wing of the army on the table in one purchase, which is the faster and cheaper route into a big-battalion game like this one.
Every kit here is one a shop we compare actually sells, and the price on each card is what that shop was charging when we last checked it — never a manufacturer's list price shown as if you could still pay it.
Some wars have no priced kits yet and show as grey names in the strip above. That is a gap in what our partners stock, not in the period.
Prices were last checked 25 Sep and can change — the retailer's own page always has the final say. Affiliate links — how we make money.
