What is Bolt Action?
Bolt Action is Warlord Games' 28mm Second World War game: a platoon a side, historical armies rather than invented factions, and an order-dice system that alternates activations instead of handing each player a whole turn. Kits are plastic and metal, and a starting force is usually a boxed platoon plus a couple of support options.
Because the armies are historical, the research is already done for you — uniform and vehicle colours are documented rather than invented, which changes how you plan a paint scheme.
Why this page is short
We list what the shops we compare actually stock, and Bolt Action reaches them far less completely than the Games Workshop ranges do. Padding the page out with kits nobody we track sells would make it look bigger and be worth less; the kits below are the ones with a real, checked price against them.
If a kit you want is missing here, it is missing from our partners rather than from Warlord.
Painting a Second World War army
Historical painting is a different job from a Warhammer faction. The palette is fixed by the subject, the same six or seven colours cover most of a platoon, and the interesting decisions are weathering and consistency rather than colour choice.
Our paint tools do not care which game a colour is for: the matcher will find the closest pot in 35+ ranges to a British battledress or a German field grey exactly as it does for a Space Marine chapter, and price every one of them.
