An ancient robotic empire waking up under the galaxy and taking it back - patient, metallic and very hard to kill for good.
The Necrons traded their bodies for metal ones millions of years ago and are only now remembering why. The army is skeletal warrior phalanxes, floating constructs, giant crawling monoliths and characters who behave like bored aristocrats. Mechanically simple silhouettes and large metallic surfaces make them one of the fastest armies to paint to a good standard - a metallic base, a shade and a green glow will carry a whole force, and the sculpts are clean enough that drybrushing genuinely works. The glow is where the fun lives: green is traditional, but blue, orange and purple are all popular and instantly make an army look personal.
On the table: A slow, resilient shooting army that keeps standing back up, favouring firepower and attrition over speed.
