The mortal followers of all four Chaos gods - armoured warriors, marauding tribes and the champions who lead them.
This is the classic Chaos army: black-armoured Chaos Warriors, Knights on barded steeds, Darkoath tribesmen who fight half-naked out of the wilds, and champions ambitious enough to be dangerous to their own side. Archaon sits at the top of it. It is a strong first Chaos collection because it is broad without being complicated. The warriors are chunky, well-defined models that reward a straightforward metal-and-dark-colour scheme, while the Darkoath kits offer skin, fur and cloth for variety. Nothing forces you to commit to one god's palette, so the army can be as grim or as garish as you want it.
On the table: Hard-hitting, well-armoured melee infantry and cavalry - durable and aggressive, with limited shooting.
