Deathwatch marines are seconded veterans, so a squad is a deliberate mix: a Salamander next to a Space Wolf next to an Ultramarine, all in black, each keeping the shoulder pad and personal touches of his home chapter. Their gear is bespoke, built to kill particular alien enemies. That makes it the ideal army for anyone who dislikes batch painting. Every model is a character study, and the chapter shoulder pads give you an excuse to use every colour on the shelf without breaking the scheme. The trade-off is speed: there is nothing to blast through, and the black armour means your highlight decision matters on every single figure.
