The Thousand Sons paid for their gift with their bodies. Most of the legion is now Rubric Marines, dust held inside power armour and driven by sorcerers who kept their minds. The army fields more psykers than any other force in the game, alongside daemons and flame-wreathed war machines. Blue and gold is one of the most attractive schemes in Warhammer 40,000 and one of the more demanding, since both colours want smooth, even coverage. The kits are heavily decorated with scarabs, scrollwork and Egyptian motifs, which gives detail painting somewhere to go, and the glowing eyes and warp-fire offer an easy route into object source lighting.

On the table: An elite, magic-heavy force of resilient infantry supported by sorcery rather than weight of numbers.
